Zukunftswerk Wiesbaden Will Be Part of the Service Design Global Conference 2026
Zukunftswerk Wiesbaden is participating in the Service Design Global Conference 2026 (SDGC26). On Wednesday, October 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the interactive workshop “Service Meets Digital” will take place at Zukunftswerk in the Luisenforum, Kirchgasse 6, 2nd floor by the bridge.
The international conference will take place from Wednesday, October 28, through Friday, October 30, at the RMCC and online (www.rmcc.de/news/pm/Internationale-Service-Design-Konferenz-kommt-2026-ins-RMCC (opens in a new tab)). It is organized by the Service Design Network in collaboration with World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026.
Service design focuses on how services can be designed from the perspective of the people who will eventually use them. For the workshop, Zukunftswerk is collaborating with stadtlabor.mg from Mönchengladbach and New Order Design from Wiesbaden. Together, they will demonstrate how digital government services can be tested and further developed with citizens at an early stage.
“The people who will eventually use a digital government service should be involved in its development at an early stage. This leads to services that are easy to understand and actually work in everyday life. Our workshop brings this approach to life and combines insights from Wiesbaden and Mönchengladbach,” says Maral Koohestanian, Department Head for Smart City, Europe, and Public Order.
In the first part of the workshop, participants will test existing digital city services and evaluate how easy they are to understand and use. Then, in a concise working session based on the Mönchengladbach model, they will develop their own ideas and initial prototypes for digital government services.
“At Zukunftswerk, we’re exploring new forms of collaboration between the administration, experts, and the urban community. The conference gives us the opportunity to share our experiences with participants from other cities and countries while also bringing back new ideas for Wiesbaden,” says Georg Nikolaev, project manager of Zukunftswerk Wiesbaden.
The workshop is aimed at professionals from government, design, academia, and business, as well as anyone interested in helping to create clear and user-friendly government services.
