The history of viticulture in the present-day Groß family dates back to the 16th century. The name Goldatzel stands for wines that combine the natural character of their location with the individual work of the winemaker. The family business relies uncompromisingly on traditional and artisanal methods to create unique natural products. "The fascinating thing about my job is developing a product of nature with a great deal of understanding and sensitivity," explains Gerhard Groß and his son Johannes emphasizes: "We see wine as a piece of Rheingau cultural heritage. Riesling reflects the special nature of its location like no other grape variety.
