The exhibition "Christian Dell - From the Silver Can to Goldgasse" is dedicated to the designer, silversmith and Bauhaus teacher Christian Dell (1893 to 1974). Guided tours, lectures and workshops from June 17 to November 15 provide in-depth insights into design, craftsmanship and modernism.
The exhibition showcases the diversity of his work, spanning craftsmanship, modernism, and industrial design. A varied program of accompanying events complements the exhibition with guided tours, lectures, open workshops, and discussions on design, materials, and creative processes.

To this day, the State Bauhaus is considered one of the most innovative institutions of the modern era. As the so-called “Werkmeister” (master craftsman) of the metalworking class in Weimar, Christian Dell was an important source of inspiration for his students, including Marianne Brandt, Wilhelm Wagenfeld, and Wolfgang Tümpel. Christian Dell designed sophisticated, mass-produced lamps, including the now-iconic “Kaiser Idell” series. The tour traces his evolution from sophisticated one-of-a-kind pieces through innovative small-batch productions to “best-sellers” that can still be found on many desks today or, in some cases, are still in production.
