The initiative aims to promote the recognition, appreciation, and integration of diversity into corporate culture in Germany. Organizations are encouraged to create a work environment free of prejudice. All employees should feel valued—regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity. 

The state capital of Wiesbaden signed the Diversity Charter back in 2008—as have more than 4,900 other public institutions and companies.
