About us

The Prinz von Hessen winery is located in Johannisberg in the Rheingau, which the von Hessen family acquired in 1957 and added to the portfolio of the Hessische Hausstiftung. The winery, run by director Bärbel Weinert, is a member of the Association of Prädikat Winegrowers (VDP) and is one of the most important Riesling producers in Germany. It cultivates around 38 hectares, more than 90 percent of which are planted with Riesling, followed by Scheurebe, Pinot Blanc, Muscat, Merlot and Pinot Noir.

Sustainability is a decisive factor for the future. The winery is currently undergoing EU organic certification - the first organic vintage will go on sale in 2023. The wines will be classified as vegan from the 2022 vintage onwards.
