Registry office

The registry office records important events in life, such as births, marriages and deaths. These events are recorded in the respective civil status registers and the corresponding official documents such as birth, marriage or death certificates are issued. Name changes and church resignations are also processed.

In addition, the registry office offers wedding ceremonies at many special wedding venues.

Note on Current Processing Times

Due to staffing shortages, there are currently wait times of several weeks for the processing of requests. This applies to responding to emails, scheduling appointments, and processing applications.

For birth registrations, the current processing time is approximately 6 weeks. We therefore recommend registering the birth in advance. This will help speed up the process after the birth.

Please understand that we cannot respond to status inquiries during the first few weeks. This additional processing would further extend wait times for everyone involved.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.
