Transmission blocks

Persons registered in Wiesbaden have the right to object to the publication or transfer of personal data to the registration authority in accordance with the Federal Registration Act (BMG). An objection is possible at any time and is valid until revoked. If you move away, the transmission block expires and must be reapplied for when you move back. The transfer block only applies to the Wiesbaden registration office. It is not necessary to give reasons for the entry of a transmission block. There is no additional confirmation that the transfer block you have applied for has been entered.

Explanations of the individual transmission blocks

  1. Objection to transmission to religious communities
The Registration Act stipulates that, in addition to the data of their members, churches may also be provided with some basic data of non-members who live in the same family as a church member. However, the family member concerned - i.e. not the church member themselves - can request the establishment of a transfer block in accordance with § 42 Para. 3 BMG.

  2. Objection to anniversaries of age and marriage
If you have an age, marriage or civil partnership anniversary, the registration authority may provide information limited to the following data on the basis of § 50 Para. 2 BMG: First and last names, doctor's degree, addresses and the date and type of anniversary. However, this information may only be provided if you have not objected.

  3. Objection to transmission to political parties
In connection with elections, registration data may be transmitted to parties, voter groups and other supporters of election proposals within the scope of so-called group information in accordance with Section 50 (1) BMG.

  4. Objection to transmission to address book publishers
According to § 50 Para. 3 BMG, address book publishers may be provided with information on the first and last names, doctor's degree and addresses of residents who have reached the age of 18.

Note:

The Military Service Modernization Act (WDModG) came into force on 01.01.2026. As a result, it is no longer possible to enter a transfer block for data transfers to the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Personnel Management.

Accordingly, the option to object to data transmission in accordance with §36 Para. 2 of the Federal Registration Act (BMG) has been removed.
