Driver licensing authority and cab service

The Wiesbaden Driver’s License Office is responsible for all matters related to driver’s licenses and the issuance of taxi and rental car permits.
To access the services of the Driver’s License Office, you must be registered as a resident of Wiesbaden.

Many services can already be handled online.

If all appointments are already booked, please try again in the following days, as appointments are released daily between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. whenever possible.

***The Wiesbaden Driver’s License Office will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on May 8, 2026, due to an official event.***

⚠️ Please note that applications can only be accepted if all required documents are complete.

Driving bans fall under the jurisdiction of the fines authority. Driver’s licenses cannot be handed in for safekeeping at the Driver’s License Office.

⚠️ Due to construction work, parking is limited. Please use public transportation.

⚠️ In the state capital of Wiesbaden, an observation period for taxi services will be in effect starting March 16, 2026, pursuant to Section 13(4) of the Passenger Transportation Act (PBefG). During this period, no permits may be issued for initial applications or extensions.
