Driver licensing authority and cab service

The Wiesbaden Driver’s License Authority is responsible for all matters related to driver’s licenses and the issuance of taxi and rental car permits. To use the services of the Driver’s License Authority, you must be registered as having your primary residence in Wiesbaden.

Many services can already be handled online.

In-person hours:

Driving
bans fall under the jurisdiction of the fines authority. Driver’s licenses cannot be turned in for safekeeping at the Driver’s License Authority.

Taxis/Rental Cars

⚠️ In the state capital of Wiesbaden, an observation period for taxi services will be in effect starting March 16, 2026, in accordance with Section 13(4) of the Passenger Transportation Act (PBefG). During this period, no licenses may be issued for initial applications or extensions.
