Driver licensing authority and cab service

The Wiesbaden Driver’s License Office is responsible for all matters related to driver’s licenses and the issuance of taxi and rental car permits.
To use the services of the Driver’s License Office, you must be registered as having your primary residence in Wiesbaden.

Many services can already be handled online.

⚠️ Please note that applications can only be accepted if all required documents are submitted in full.

Driving bans fall under the jurisdiction of the traffic fines authority. Driver’s licenses cannot be turned in to the driver’s license authority for safekeeping.

Taxis/Rental Cars

⚠️ In the state capital of Wiesbaden, an observation period for taxi services will be in effect starting March 16, 2026, in accordance with Section 13(4) of the Passenger Transportation Act (PBefG). During this period, no permits may be issued for initial applications or extensions.
